U.S. Patents Essential To Practicing The DVD Specifications.

The Constitution of the United States of America

Article 1, Section 8 grants the Congress of the United States of America the power:

 “To promote the progress of science and useful arts, by securing for limited times to authors and inventors the exclusive right to their respective writings and discoveries”.

“Grants to the person(s) having title to this patent the right to exclude others from making, using, offering for sale, or selling the invention throughout the United States of America or importing the invention into the Unites States of America”. 

Claims of U.S. Patents 5,434,678; 5,589,945; 5,724,472; 5,913,013; 5,987,211; 6,002,833; 6,151,444; 6,208,805; 6,304,715; 6,463,207; and 7,054,547; are read on by implementation of the DVD Specifications for Read-Only Disc, Part 3 Video Specifications, Version 1.1, December 1997, and are available for licensing for DVD-Videos.

"DVD-Videos" shall mean optical discs having, as part of their manufacturing, a prerecorded motion picture that is in compliance with the DVD Specifications.

"DVD-Devices" shall mean: (i) desktop and notebook personal computers having an optical drive and software and/or firmware implementing the DVD-Specifications ("DVD-PCs"); (ii) consumer electronic kits for sale to an end user comprising an optical drive and software and/or firmware implementing the DVD-Specifications for an end user to upgrade a personal computer ("DVD-Kits"); (iii) home video game consoles having an optical drive and software and/or firmware implementing the DVD-Specifications ("DVD-Gamers"); (iv) electronic kits comprising an optical drive and software and/or firmware implementing the DVD-Specifications, incorporated into automobiles, trucks, sea crafts, and airplanes, (“DVD-Transports”); and (v) other consumer electronic devices having an optical drive and software and/or firmware implementing the DVD-Specifications, e.g., DVD players, DVD/TVs, DVD/VHS players, and DVD/PVRs ("DVD-Players").
