Nissim Grants Microsoft Patent License For The Xbox 360

Boca Raton, FL – May 15, 2007 – Nissim Corp. and Microsoft Corp. (NYSE: MSFT) have entered into a royalty-bearing license agreement under certain of Nissim’s U.S. patents. The agreement licenses Microsoft’s implementation of the DVD Specifications in the Xbox 360 video game console.

The licensed Nissim patents include U.S. Patents 5,434,678; 5,589,945; 5,913,013;  6,151,444;  6,208,805; and 6,463,207. The patents cover, among other things, multiple features that are required by the industry adopted DVD Specifications and that are incorporated in all consumer electronic products capable of playing DVDs. 

Virtually every company that sells DVD-Devices in the United States has taken a DVD-Device License from Nissim under the Nissim patents and pays Nissim running royalties for sales of DVD-Devices. Nissim’s licensees, currently approximately ninety companies, include Dell, Funai, Gateway, Hewlett-Packard, Lenovo, Matsushita, Philips, Pioneer, Samsung, Sony, Thomson, and Toshiba among others.
